Kingston, Jamaica — Jamaica’s next generation of builders, architects, and urban visionaries are being offered a significant opportunity to advance their careers through the National Housing Trust (NHT)’s 2024/25 Construction Scholarship Programme, which provides up to $1 million in financial assistance per student.

Open to Jamaican nationals currently enrolled in undergraduate construction-related programmes at the University of Technology (UTech) or the University of the West Indies (UWI), the scholarship aims to strengthen the pipeline of skilled professionals critical to Jamaica’s housing and infrastructure development.

Applications will be accepted until November 24, and up to 10 students are expected to benefit from this initiative.

“As the premier housing provider, the NHT recognises the importance of nurturing a pool of skilled professionals to drive the development of affordable housing in Jamaica,” said Tameka Hill, Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Manager at the NHT.
“Our scholarship programme is a strategic investment in the future of the construction industry. By supporting talented individuals, we aim to foster innovation, efficiency and sustainability in housing development.”

The programme covers studies in fields such as Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, and Urban Planning—disciplines identified as essential to fulfilling Jamaica’s national housing priorities and enhancing community resilience.

Applicants must:

Those selected will receive direct financial support to cover tuition and academic expenses for the 2024/25 academic year, making a tangible difference in their education journey.

“We believe that these scholars will contribute to the NHT’s mission of providing safe, affordable and resilient housing solutions for all Jamaicans, and we welcome them to partner with the NHT in this mission,” Ms. Hill added.
