    Geography and Boundaries of Kingston 6

    Kingston 6 is a prominent district located in the southeastern part of Kingston, Jamaica, with the Liguanea area being the heart of the region. It is bordered to the north by the University of the West Indies (UWI) and the University Hospital of the West Indies. To the south, it is adjacent to the upscale neighborhoods of Barbican and Cherry Gardens, while to the east, it borders Papine and Mona. The western boundary is marked by the residential areas of New Kingston and Liguanea, making Kingston 6 a central and easily accessible zone in the city.

    Educational and Residential Landscape

    Kingston 6 is home to several esteemed educational institutions, including the University of the West Indies (UWI), a leading tertiary institution, and the University Hospital of the West Indies, a major teaching hospital. Additionally, prominent secondary schools such as St. Andrew High School for Girls and Mona High School contribute to the area’s educational prominence. The district is known for its variety of residential areas, from upscale neighborhoods like Barbican and Cherry Gardens to more modest accommodations in Papine and Mona, offering a diverse mix of living options for residents.

    Cultural and Commercial Significance

    The area also boasts a vibrant commercial and cultural scene, with numerous shopping centers, restaurants, and entertainment venues. Notable cultural attractions include the Hope Botanical Gardens, the largest botanical gardens in the Caribbean, and the Bob Marley Museum, located nearby in New Kingston. The National Gallery of Jamaica further enriches the cultural landscape. Kingston 6 is well-connected by public transportation, and local venues like the Kingston 6 Rhythm & Spice Bar & Grill provide live music, dining, and entertainment, making the district a dynamic hub for both locals and visitors.
