KINGSTON, Jamaica — The United States (US) dollar on Tuesday, April 29, ended trading at $159.28, down 5 cents, according to the Bank of Jamaica’s daily foreign exchange trading summary.
The Canadian dollar closed at $114.86, down from $115.13 at the previous close, and the British pound ended at $211.65, compared with $211.50.
The Jamaican dollar made small gains against the US and Canadian dollars and was marginally weaker against the pound.

What it means for property buyers and the diaspora
Quiet days like this are useful reference points. Tenants paying rent in US dollars, common for upscale apartments in New Kingston and on the north coast, would see almost no change in the local equivalent. Buyers comparing developer price lists quoted in US dollars can budget with reasonable confidence, and British-based investors sending funds for stamp duty and registration fees got a fractionally better rate than the day before.
