    Our Mission

Jamaica Homes News is an independent digital publication covering Jamaican real estate, housing, development, investment, business, communities and the issues that shape how people live, work and invest in Jamaica.

Our mission is to provide timely, informative and accessible journalism that helps readers better understand Jamaica’s property market and the wider issues affecting it.

Editorial decisions are made independently and are not influenced by advertisers, commercial relationships, political organisations or external stakeholders.

    Editorial Approach

Our reporting combines original journalism, publicly available information, official documents, industry data, press releases, interviews and modern technology, including artificial intelligence, to produce timely and comprehensive coverage.

We recognise that journalism is an evolving process. Stories develop, facts change, official statements are updated and new evidence can emerge after publication.

    Accuracy

We make reasonable efforts to publish information that is accurate at the time of publication.

Before publishing, we endeavour to verify information using reliable sources where reasonably possible; review official documents and publicly available records where appropriate; distinguish factual reporting from opinion and analysis; and provide relevant context to assist readers’ understanding.

Despite these efforts, no news organisation can guarantee that every article will always be entirely accurate, complete or current. Information may change rapidly, particularly during breaking news events, government announcements, court proceedings, property transactions and developing stories.

Where errors are identified, we are committed to correcting them in accordance with our Corrections Policy.

    Artificial Intelligence

Jamaica Homes News makes extensive use of artificial intelligence (“AI”) technologies throughout its editorial workflow.

AI may be used to assist with research, summarising information, drafting articles, editing, grammar and language improvement, data analysis, transcription, headline generation, image creation and enhancement, SEO optimisation, and other editorial functions.

AI is an editorial tool and not a substitute for editorial judgement. Although reasonable efforts are made to review AI-assisted content before publication, artificial intelligence systems are capable of producing factual inaccuracies, omissions, outdated information, incorrect interpretations and other errors.

Readers should independently verify any information that may affect legal rights, financial decisions, property transactions, investment decisions or other matters of significance.

    Fairness

We aim to report fairly and responsibly. Where practical and appropriate, individuals or organisations who are the subject of significant criticism or allegations will normally be offered a reasonable opportunity to comment before publication.

Where obtaining comment is not possible before publication, we may update the article if a response is subsequently received.

    Independence

Editorial decisions are made independently. Advertising, sponsorships, commercial relationships and business partnerships do not determine editorial content.

Where content has been sponsored or paid for, it will be clearly identified wherever reasonably practicable.

    Sources

Information published by Jamaica Homes News may originate from official government departments and agencies, public records, courts and tribunals, regulatory authorities, businesses and developers, industry professionals, academic institutions, interviews, eyewitness accounts, press releases, publicly available datasets and other third-party sources.

While reasonable efforts are made to verify information before publication, we cannot guarantee the accuracy or completeness of information supplied by third parties.

    Opinion and Analysis

Opinion articles, editorials and market analysis are clearly distinguished from factual reporting wherever reasonably possible. Opinions expressed by contributors are their own.

Forecasts, predictions and market commentary are based upon information available at the time of publication and should not be interpreted as guarantees of future events or market performance.

    Real Estate Reporting

Property prices, valuations, specifications, planning information, availability, rental figures, development proposals and investment information may change without notice.

Readers should independently verify material information before entering into any property transaction or making any financial decision.

Publication of a property, business or development does not constitute an endorsement or recommendation by Jamaica Homes News.

    Transparency

We aim to distinguish reporting from opinion; identify sponsored content where applicable; disclose material conflicts of interest where appropriate; acknowledge significant corrections; and explain major updates where necessary.

    Conflicts of Interest

Editorial decisions should be made independently of commercial considerations. Where a material conflict of interest exists, appropriate disclosure will normally be made, or the matter may be handled by another contributor or editor where appropriate.

    User Contributions

Comments, photographs, news tips and reader submissions are welcome. However, we reserve the right to edit, moderate, refuse or remove content that is unlawful, defamatory, misleading, abusive, discriminatory, threatening, obscene, promotional, spam or otherwise inconsistent with these Editorial Standards.

Submission of material does not guarantee publication. All submissions are subject to our Publishing Standards.

    Diversity and Respect

We aim to report fairly, accurately and respectfully on all individuals and communities. Editorial decisions are made without unlawful discrimination and with due regard to fairness and the public interest.

    Updates to Articles

Articles may be updated after publication to correct factual errors, include additional information, reflect official statements, incorporate responses from relevant parties, clarify wording, improve accuracy, or reflect significant developments.

Publication of a correction, clarification or update should not be interpreted as an admission of legal liability.

    Corrections

We recognise that mistakes can occur. If readers believe an article contains an error or omission, they are encouraged to contact us with supporting information. Where appropriate, we may correct the article, publish a clarification, add an editor’s note, update the article, issue a correction notice, or remove content where justified.

The nature of the action taken will depend upon the circumstances and the significance of the issue.

    Editorial Independence

Jamaica Homes News forms part of the wider Jamaica Homes ecosystem. However, editorial decisions are made independently of the commercial activities of affiliated businesses, including property listings, directories, advertising relationships and commercial partnerships.

We strive to ensure that editorial integrity remains separate from commercial interests.

    Limitation

These Editorial Standards describe our editorial objectives and practices. They are intended as guidance and do not create any contractual rights, legal obligations or guarantees regarding the publication, amendment or removal of any content.
