KINGSTON, Jamaica — The United States (US) dollar on Monday, June 2, ended trading at $160.10, down 2 cents, according to the Bank of Jamaica’s daily foreign exchange trading summary.
The Canadian dollar closed at $117.36, up from $117.11 at the previous close, and the British pound ended at $215.26, up from $215.23.
The Jamaican dollar was little changed overall, edging up against the US dollar while slipping slightly against the Canadian dollar and sterling.

What it means for property buyers and the diaspora
Steady rates make planning easier. For a first-time buyer in Kingston or Montego Bay budgeting for transfer tax, legal fees and a valuation, a stable exchange rate means fewer surprises on quotes that reference the US dollar. Hardware merchants restocking imported rebar and PVC pipe face practically unchanged costs, and diaspora families in Toronto or London sending money for a house payment saw only a fractional improvement in what their transfers bought.
Jamaica Homes News publishes regular foreign exchange updates to help buyers, sellers and overseas investors keep track of the rates that shape the cost of property and construction in Jamaica.
