- Eight parishes under flood watch
- Heavy showers expected across Jamaica
- Watch runs until June 10
- Low lying areas face risk
Kingston, Jamaica, 8 June 2026
A flash flood watch has been issued for low lying and flood prone areas of Westmoreland, St Elizabeth, Manchester, Clarendon, St Catherine, St Thomas, Kingston and St Andrew.

Watch remains in effect
The Meteorological Service said the watch is effective until 5:00 pm on Wednesday, June 10. An active tropical wave moving across Jamaica is interacting with an upper level trough, creating unstable weather conditions.
Periods of showers and thunderstorms may become heavy at times, particularly across southern parishes. Strong gusty winds are also possible in some coastal areas.
What homeowners should watch
Residents in flood prone communities should monitor drains, gullies, low lying access roads and nearby slopes, and should avoid attempting to cross flooded roads or fords.
