KINGSTON, Jamaica — A minor earthquake measuring magnitude 3.2 was felt in sections of Hanover on Thursday afternoon, according to the Earthquake Unit at The University of the West Indies, Mona.
The tremor occurred at approximately 4:59 pm on August 6, 2026, with its epicentre located about seven kilometres southeast of Lucea. The earthquake had a focal depth of 11 kilometres.
The Earthquake Unit said the event was reported felt in Cold Spring, Pondside, Great Valley and Thompson Hill in Hanover.
The event was classified as a local earthquake. The Earthquake Unit monitors seismic activity across Jamaica and publishes bulletins on earthquakes reported felt by residents.
