Big Woods, a rural settlement in Westmoreland, Jamaica, is known for its peaceful environment and strong community spirit. The Bigwoods Wesleyan Holiness Church serves as a central place of worship and gatherings.

Agriculture remains vital to the local economy. In 2019, a 113-acre hemp farm was established in Lennox Bigwoods, a US$1 million investment aimed at producing hemp-based products for local and international markets.

Real estate in Big Woods offers a mix of agricultural and residential opportunities. A 132-acre property in nearby Darliston features arable land, a farmhouse, a greenhouse, and water storage, making it ideal for farming or development.

Infrastructure improvements include the 2022 completion of a fully furnished two-bedroom house in Moreland Hill under the Indigent Housing Programme. Road rehabilitation projects have also enhanced accessibility.

Historically, Westmoreland has been shaped by agriculture, particularly sugarcane, pimento, and livestock farming. Big Woods continues this legacy while gradually embracing modern developments.
