The law of agency is like when someone you trust helps you do something important, and they have to follow your instructions. Imagine you want to sell your house, but you don’t have time to find buyers. You hire a real estate agent to do it for you. That agent becomes your helper, or “agent,” and you are the “principal.” Their job is to represent you, make good deals, and tell you everything that’s happening. They must always work in your best interest and not do anything to harm you or your plans.

In Jamaica, there are special rules that real estate agents must follow, like being honest and fair, so you don’t get cheated. These rules are part of something called the Real Estate Dealers and Developers Act. Around the world, this idea works in lots of other jobs too, like lawyers helping their clients or sports agents finding teams for players. The law of agency makes sure everyone knows their roles, so things get done fairly and smoothly. It’s all about trust and teamwork!
