REITs

Real Estate Investment Trusts, or REITs, are like a big money box where lots of people put their money together to own and earn from buildings and properties without actually buying one themselves. In Jamaica, REITs on the Jamaica Stock Exchange let regular people invest in things like hotels, offices, apartments, and shopping centers, which can make money from rent and property value going up. Instead of buying a house or building and dealing with fixing it up or renting it out, REITs do all that work, and you get paid a share of the money they make. Around the world, people use REITs to invest in real estate because they’re an easy way to earn steady income, especially from big properties you might not afford on your own. In Jamaica, they’re especially good because of our busy tourism industry and growing cities, which means properties here have lots of ways to earn money and grow in value over time.
