In Jamaica, persistent non-payment of property tax can ultimately result in the Tax Administration Jamaica initiating a tax sale process against the property. While this process is governed by statute, it has also been exploited by fraudsters who create the false impression that a property is being sold for tax arrears when it is not, or who acquire properties through the tax sale process without the legitimate owner’s knowledge.
