KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica Public Service says power has been fully restored to customers affected by outages in sections of Portmore and Spanish Town after a bush fire near Dyke Road damaged four transmission poles and part of a transmission line.

The first outage occurred at about 10:30 am on August 10. JPS said interim repairs allowed customers to be restored within an hour while further work continued.
A second outage followed at approximately 8:37 pm. Restoration began within 30 minutes, with full power restored by 11:40 pm on August 11.
JPS said customers were kept updated through text messages, social media and its WhatsApp channel. The utility also reminded the public of the risks of starting fires near poles and power lines.
