$16.9 Million for a Buckhead Office Building: A Fast-Growing Atlanta Church Plans a 2,500-Seat Sanctuary

A growing Atlanta church has bought an office building to become its central home, Connect CRE reported in August 2026.

Christ Covenant Church paid $16.9 million, or about $179 per square foot, to Hall Capital for Piedmont Place, a four-storey, 94,000-square-foot office building at 3520 Piedmont Road Northeast in Buckhead. The building dates from 1983. Transwestern brokered the deal for the church and was retained to handle leasing and asset services.

The church plans to operate the property as a multi-tenant office building at first, with long-term plans that include “the addition of a 2,500-seat sanctuary.”

Senior Pastor Jason Dees said: “Since 2017, Christ Covenant Church has grown to more than 2,000 members and three campuses in metro Atlanta. At Piedmont Place, the Church has an opportunity to build a central gathering place to serve its membership today and reach the City of Atlanta well into the future.”

The purchase is a notable example of a church acting as a commercial landlord. By keeping office tenants in place, the church can collect rent to help carry the cost of the property while it plans and raises money for its sanctuary. It also gains a large, prominent site in Buckhead.

For Jamaican congregations looking to expand, buying an existing commercial building can be faster than building from scratch, and rental income from part of the property can help pay the mortgage. But being a landlord brings obligations: leases, maintenance, insurance and tenant management. Churches should get professional advice on both the purchase and the running of any income-producing property.
