Devotionals
When everything we have worked for is shaken, faith reminds us that what holds us together is often stronger than what has been taken away.
As Jamaica’s women farmers struggle to rebuild after Hurricane Melissa, their determination offers a powerful reminder about faith, perseverance and the courage to begin again.
“The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the Lord of hosts.” Haggai 2:9
The first ripe fruit promises a harvest to come. Paul calls the risen Christ the firstfruits, and tells us our labour in the Lord is not in vain, including the unseen work of loving a household.
Jesus’ puzzling parable of the dishonest manager ends with a call to use money for lasting good. What might that look like for the space, savings and property we hold?
Every family has a story about what went wrong: the land that was lost, the business that failed. Paul’s words in Philippians 3 invite us to stop letting that story decide where the household goes next.
Many households go to bed with the day’s argument still hanging in the air. A devotional on Psalm 4 and Ephesians 4 about letting go of anger before sleep, and the peace it brings to a home.
Jesus said, “Let not your heart be troubled.” Those two words, let not, suggest that peace in a household is partly a matter of what we refuse to let in.
Psalm 107 begins with wanderers who could not find a place to live. For families who have moved from yard to yard, island to island or country to country, it is a psalm to be spoken aloud.
