The transfer tax rate in Jamaica is 2.5% of the agreed sale price. This is paid by the vendor (seller) and must be settled before the transfer can be registered at the National Land Agency. The rate was reduced from a previous higher rate to encourage market activity.
Stamp duty is currently set at 2% of the purchase price, split equally between buyer and vendor — each pays 1%. There is no minimum threshold; it applies from the first dollar.
