About Christiana
Christiana is the second largest town in Manchester parish — a cool, elevated market town set high in the Manchester hills at over 700 metres above sea level. Known for its remarkably temperate climate (temperatures regularly dip below 20°C in the evenings), Christiana is a favourite destination for Kingstonians escaping the city heat during summer. The town is surrounded by some of Jamaica’s most productive farmland: the rocky limestone hillsides of this region are famous for producing some of the island’s finest Irish and sweet potatoes, yams, and vegetables. Christiana has a lively Saturday market and a strong community character. The surrounding countryside, with its misty hills, gurgling streams, and panoramic views, is quietly spectacular — a side of Jamaica that most visitors never see.
