About Oracabessa
Oracabessa is a small coastal town in St Mary that has earned global fame as the home of GoldenEye — the estate where Ian Fleming wrote every single James Bond novel from 1952 to 1964. Fleming chose this clifftop property for its dramatic setting above a private cove, and the name ‘GoldenEye’ came from a WWII operation he had participated in. Today GoldenEye is a world-class boutique resort operated by Island Outpost, with villas, overwater bungalows, and a private beach that attracts discerning travellers from across the globe. The town itself has an excellent marina and is also close to Goldeneye’s Bond Beach, a favourite with locals. Oracabessa Bay Fish Sanctuary — established to protect the reef and replenish fish stocks — has become a model for sustainable marine conservation across the Caribbean.
