About Whitehouse
Whitehouse is one of Jamaica’s most beautiful and least-visited coastal communities — a fishing village on Westmoreland’s south coast that has somehow remained largely undiscovered by mass tourism. The village sits on a gorgeous bay with calm, turquoise water, a reef just offshore, and fishing boats bobbing in the shallows. Whitehouse is known to scuba divers and snorkellers for its excellent reef conditions and to food lovers for some of the freshest fish on the island — caught and cooked within hours at the beachside shacks. The area was home to Jamaica’s first exclusive villa resort, the Sandals Whitehouse, which brought some international attention to the area. The surrounding coast between Whitehouse and Black River is increasingly attracting eco-tourists and buyers seeking authentic south coast Jamaica at prices far below the north coast.
