Publishing Standards
Effective Date: 11 July 2026
These Publishing Standards apply to all content that appears on Jamaica Homes News — whether produced by our own editorial team, submitted externally, commissioned commercially, or contributed by third parties.
We maintain these standards to protect the integrity of our publication, the interests of our readers, and the reputation of those who work with us.
What We Publish
Jamaica Homes News is a digital publication focused on Jamaican real estate, housing, development, investment, business, communities and related topics. We publish original news and analysis, commissioned features, press releases, sponsored content, property information, market commentary, and contributed articles — provided they meet the standards set out on this page.
Original articles and investigations covering the Jamaican real estate and housing sector, development activity, planning decisions and market trends.
Factual announcements from developers, businesses, government agencies and industry bodies relating to property, housing or associated matters.
Commercial editorial produced or commissioned by an advertiser and clearly labelled as sponsored. Subject to our content standards in full.
Commentary, market analysis and expert opinion on Jamaican real estate and related topics. Clearly distinguished from factual reporting.
Listings, project announcements, development profiles and property market data submitted by relevant parties for publication.
Information submitted by readers, whistleblowers and members of the public that forms the basis of editorial investigation or reporting.
Standards We Apply to All Content
Whether content originates from our editorial team, a commercial partner, or a third-party contributor, the following baseline standards apply before any content is considered for publication.
- Factually accurate to the best of the submitter’s knowledge and belief
- Clearly sourced, with verifiable references where claims are made
- Fair and balanced in how it characterises individuals, businesses and events
- Relevant to Jamaican real estate, housing, development, business or community matters
- Written in clear, professional English appropriate for a public audience
- Compliant with Jamaican law and, where applicable, international standards
- Free from undisclosed conflicts of interest
- Original — not copied or substantially reproduced from another source without permission
What We Will Not Publish
The following types of content will not be accepted under any circumstances, regardless of the form in which they are submitted or the commercial value of the relationship involved.
- Content that is defamatory, libellous or unlawfully harmful to any identifiable person or business
- Unverified or knowingly false claims presented as fact
- Content that misleads consumers about a property, investment, product or service
- Material that incites discrimination on the basis of race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, disability, nationality or other protected characteristic
- Content that promotes or facilitates illegal activity, including financial fraud, money laundering or unlicensed investment schemes
- Sexually explicit material or content inappropriate for a general adult audience
- Personal attacks, harassment or targeted abuse directed at any individual
- Content that violates the intellectual property rights of a third party
- Advertising or promotional content disguised as impartial editorial without appropriate disclosure
- Content submitted in bad faith — including deliberately misleading our team about the nature, source or purpose of a submission
- Material relating to active legal proceedings in a manner that could prejudice those proceedings or breach court orders
- Any content that Jamaica Homes News, in its sole editorial discretion, considers contrary to the public interest or inconsistent with the standards of responsible journalism
Sponsored Content Standards
We accept sponsored content from commercial partners where it meets our publishing standards and is clearly identified as commercial in nature.
Sponsored content must be factually accurate and not misleading; must clearly identify the sponsoring party; must not make unsubstantiated claims about products, services, properties or investments; must comply with all applicable advertising, consumer protection and financial promotion regulations; and must not be presented in a way designed to deceive readers into believing it is independent editorial.
We reserve the right to edit, decline or withdraw sponsored content that does not meet these standards, even after acceptance, where a material issue subsequently comes to our attention.
Sponsorship of content does not purchase editorial endorsement. Jamaica Homes News does not endorse the products, services, properties or investments of any commercial partner. All sponsored content will be clearly labelled.
Press Release Standards
Press releases submitted for publication should relate directly to a real estate, housing, development, investment or business matter with genuine relevance to a Jamaican audience. They should be factually accurate, properly attributed, and free from exaggerated or unverifiable claims.
We reserve the right to edit press releases for length, clarity, grammar and house style. We may decline to publish press releases that do not meet our standards, are off-topic, are embargoed beyond reasonable timeframes, or raise legal or accuracy concerns.
Submission of a press release does not guarantee publication.
Advertising Standards
Display and digital advertising accepted by Jamaica Homes News must comply with applicable Jamaican advertising standards and relevant consumer protection law. Advertisers are responsible for the accuracy and legality of their own advertising materials.
We will not accept advertising for products or services that are illegal in Jamaica; financial products or investment schemes that are not properly regulated; content that is discriminatory, offensive or harmful; or advertising designed to deceive or mislead.
Reader Submissions and Tips
We welcome information from readers and members of the public. Submissions are treated in confidence and handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Submission of information does not guarantee publication. All tips and reader contributions are subject to editorial review, fact-checking and verification before any use is made of the information.
We will not publish information that we believe to have been obtained unlawfully or that would place any individual at risk of harm.
Editorial Discretion
All publishing decisions remain at the sole discretion of Jamaica Homes News. Acceptance of a submission, payment for a service, or a prior publishing relationship does not create any obligation on our part to publish any particular piece of content.
We may decline, edit, delay, withdraw or remove content at any time where we determine this to be appropriate, including on legal, editorial, accuracy or public interest grounds.
Consequences of Breach
Where content is found, after publication, to have been submitted in breach of these Publishing Standards — including through the provision of false, misleading or defamatory information — the submitting party accepts full responsibility for any resulting consequences. This includes, but is not limited to, costs associated with correction, legal exposure, reputational damage and removal of content.
Our Refund Policy applies in full in such circumstances and no refund will be issued where content is removed following a breach of these standards.
