Gordon Town, in Saint Andrew, Jamaica, is a picturesque community in the foothills of the Blue Mountains. Established during the colonial era, it retains its historical charm, with traditional Jamaican wooden houses and colonial-style buildings. The town serves as a gateway to the Blue and John Crow Mountains National Park, attracting visitors for hiking, eco-tourism, and cultural heritage. A close-knit community, Gordon Town regularly hosts events celebrating Jamaican music, dance, and cuisine.

The area boasts breathtaking natural attractions, including waterfalls popular for picnicking and photography. Agriculture plays a key role in the local economy, particularly in producing internationally renowned Blue Mountain coffee. Eco-tourism also contributes to the town’s economy as visitors explore its rich landscapes and culture. However, the town is vulnerable to natural disasters, as seen in November 2020, when heavy rains caused a landslide, disrupting the main road to Kingston and highlighting the need for better infrastructure.

Despite challenges, Gordon Town remains a vibrant community with strong social ties and deep cultural roots. Local markets, community centers, and schools foster interaction and development, creating a welcoming atmosphere. Its blend of history, culture, and natural beauty makes it a standout destination in Saint Andrew parish.
