Hear seh: In Jamaican Patois, “hear seh” refers to rumors or something that has been said, often without confirmation, and typically not believed to be true. It’s used to describe information that circulates, but lacks authenticity or reliable sources. In real estate, “hear seh” might be used when discussing gossip or unverified claims about a property, neighborhood, or transaction. For instance, if there are rumors about the price of a house, an agent might respond, “Mi hear seh di price drop, but mi wi double check di figures fi yuh fi make sure.” Similarly, when clients ask about a property’s history, an agent might say, “Yuh hear seh di house used to have issues, but mi have all di documents fi show yuh dat everything fixed now.” The phrase captures the notion of hearsay and emphasizes the importance of verifying information before acting on it, particularly in real estate where facts and documentation are crucial to making informed decisions.
