In Jamaica, intellectual property rights are granted for specific durations. For instance, patents typically last 20 years, copyrights extend for the life of the author plus 70 years, and trademarks can be renewed indefinitely as long as they remain in active use. Once these periods expire, the protected works may enter the public domain, making them available for use by others.
