Maranatha Volunteers International resumed church construction in Cuba with a new church in Nuevitas, despite an economic crisis that forced it to ship steel and concrete from Panama, as well as power cuts, a hurricane and an earthquake.

Months after the 2017 hurricanes, Adventist volunteers were still rebuilding roofs in the British Virgin Islands, where churches in Carrot Bay and Road Town and an Adventist school of more than 300 students had been badly damaged.

Seventh-day Adventists in Cárdenas, Cuba, dedicated a new church with a 500-seat sanctuary, funded entirely by private donations through Maranatha Volunteers International, replacing a deteriorated garage-sized building after decades of prayer and waiting.

Forty Adventists in La Romana worshipped under a zinc roof on a dirt floor until world church leaders and Maranatha volunteers raised a new church, with restrooms and a well, in a single day for more than US$15,000.
