Kingston, Jamaica, 22 June 2026
Investors and developers dealing with Jamaica’s special economic zones can now apply for approvals, upload documents and track their applications online, after the Jamaica Special Economic Zone Authority launched a new digital facilitation tool.
The platform was unveiled on Thursday, 11 June, at the AC Marriott Hotel in Kingston, and is intended to make it faster and more transparent to do business under the SEZ regime.

Built for investors anywhere
Industry, Investment and Commerce Minister Senator Aubyn Hill said the system allows applications to be submitted and monitored in real time from anywhere in the world, replacing uncertainty and administrative delay with efficiency.
He said the message to global markets was that Jamaica is serious about investors’ time and capital, and he called for the platform to be linked with other government systems so agencies do not work in isolation.
Three phases
The rollout will happen in stages. The first phase covers an application portal where businesses can create a profile, upload and scan documents using artificial intelligence, and follow the progress of their applications. Company details will be drawn automatically from several government databases for applicants to check and confirm.
A second phase will add a dashboard for zone developers to manage their occupants and users, while the third will introduce a payment portal and further improvements based on user feedback.
JSEZA Chief Executive Officer Kelli-Dawn Hamilton said the launch coincides with the authority’s tenth anniversary and supports the Government’s goal of establishing Jamaica as the fourth global logistics hub. Staff will provide training and one-to-one guidance as stakeholders are brought onto the platform.
Why it matters for property and jobs
Special economic zones host warehouses, factories and logistics operations, and with them employment. Quicker, more predictable approvals could help new investment move from paper to construction sooner, which matters to builders, contractors and landowners near zone sites.
Where zones bring new jobs, surrounding communities can also see greater demand for housing and rental accommodation, making the pace of SEZ development something for local homeowners and investors to watch.
