KINGSTON, Jamaica — The United States (US) dollar on Wednesday, September 25, ended trading at $158.72, up 17 cents, according to the Bank of Jamaica’s daily foreign exchange trading summary.
The Canadian dollar closed at $117.88, up from $117.85, while the British pound sterling ended at $210.66, up from $210.59.
The Jamaican dollar eased against all three currencies, though the moves against the Canadian dollar and pound were only a few cents.

What it means for property buyers and the diaspora
For most households these are modest shifts, but they matter at scale. On a US$100,000 home purchase funded from abroad, a 17-cent move in the exchange rate changes the Jamaican-dollar equivalent by about J$17,000. Developers importing materials in bulk, and investors comparing Jamaican-dollar rents with US-dollar mortgage payments, will want to keep an eye on the trend rather than any single day.
