KINGSTON, Jamaica — The United States (US) dollar on Monday, September 16, ended trading at $158.61, up six cents, according to the Bank of Jamaica’s daily foreign exchange trading summary.
The Canadian dollar closed at $117.02, down from $117.07, while the British pound sterling ended at $207.20, down from $207.71.
The Jamaican dollar was slightly weaker against the US dollar but firmer against the Canadian dollar and the pound.

What it means for property buyers and the diaspora
With only small movements across the board, the day offered little reason for buyers or sellers to change plans. US-based Jamaicans remitting money for monthly mortgage payments saw a marginally better rate, while those in Canada and the UK received a little less. Contractors quoting in Jamaican dollars for jobs that rely on US-priced imports can treat the day’s rate as broadly stable.
