24 Tucker Avenue is the former residence of Sir Alexander Bustamante, Jamaica’s first Prime Minister and National Hero. Built in 1940 while Bustamante was detained at Up Park Camp for allegedly inciting worker protests, the house was constructed on land he had purchased the year before. His attorneys, Judah and Randall, completed the house within a year, coinciding with his release.

The contemporary three-bedroom, three-bathroom concrete home features a blend of hip and gable roof designs with timber shingles and louvered windows throughout, except for pivoted sash windows in the bathrooms. Initially rented, the house later became Bustamante’s primary residence and a hub for significant political meetings that influenced Jamaica’s journey toward independence.

Today, 24 Tucker Avenue stands as a historic landmark, honoring the legacy of one of Jamaica’s most iconic leaders.
