In Jamaica, when someone enters or stays on another person’s property without permission, this is called trespassing. If the trespasser refuses to leave, the property owner has the right to make them leave. This is called forcible ejection, which simply means physically removing the person from the property. Forcible ejection is allowed by law, but it has to be done carefully. The property owner cannot use too much force or hurt the person, as that could get them in trouble. For example, if someone is living on your land without permission and refuses to leave after you ask, you can make them leave, but you should do so calmly and safely, or get help from the police or courts. This rule helps protect property owners, making sure people can’t just stay on land that isn’t theirs. If you ever have to deal with this, it’s important to stay within the law and avoid using violence or causing harm, while making sure your rights as the owner are respected.
