KINGSTON, Jamaica — The United States (US) dollar on Monday, November 25, ended trading at $158.49, up 54 cents, according to the Bank of Jamaica’s daily foreign exchange trading summary.
The Canadian dollar closed at $113.28, down from $113.77, while the British pound sterling ended at $202.98, up from $201.14.
The Jamaican dollar weakened against the US dollar and the pound but firmed against the Canadian dollar.

What it means for property buyers and the diaspora
For families in the United States and United Kingdom, the day offered a better rate on money sent home, whether for a deposit, a monthly mortgage top-up or ongoing construction costs. Local buyers should note the flip side: when the US dollar rises by more than half a dollar in a single session, the Jamaican-dollar price of imported building materials and US-dollar-quoted rentals tends to follow.
Jamaica Homes News publishes regular foreign exchange updates to help buyers, sellers and overseas investors keep track of the rates that shape the cost of property and construction in Jamaica.
