KINGSTON, Jamaica — The United States (US) dollar on Monday, September 14, ended trading at $158.70, down 2 cents, according to the Bank of Jamaica’s daily foreign exchange trading summary.
The Canadian dollar closed at $115.13, a touch higher than its previous $115.06, and the British pound ended at $216.28, up from $216.15.
It was a quiet session overall, with the Jamaican dollar holding essentially steady against the US dollar and giving up only a few cents to the Canadian and British currencies.

What it means for property buyers and the diaspora
Stable days like this one are useful for planning. Buyers in Toronto or London who are budgeting a down payment or stamp duty and transfer tax can work with rates that barely moved, and contractors pricing imported windows, tiles or roofing sheets in US dollars face no meaningful change in their quotes.
Jamaica Homes News publishes regular foreign exchange updates to help buyers, sellers and overseas investors keep track of the rates that shape the cost of property and construction in Jamaica.
