Spiritual refers to matters connected with the human spirit, faith, God, inner life and the search for meaning beyond the purely physical or material world. It can describe beliefs, experiences and practices involving prayer, worship, morality, purpose, personal transformation and a person’s relationship with what they consider sacred.

In Christianity, being spiritual is closely connected with life in relationship with God and the work of the Holy Spirit. It is expressed not only through prayer and worship, but through character, compassion, obedience, forgiveness and the way faith shapes everyday decisions. In Jamaica, where Christianity has had a strong influence on community life, music, language and public culture, spirituality is often experienced both personally and collectively, from private prayer to church worship, gospel music and community fellowship.
