“Part of the Vision Since 2007”: A Milwaukee Church Plans 181 Homes So Its Elders Can Age in Place

A Milwaukee church wants to build a community where its older members can grow old near the pews. Christianity Daily reported in May 2026 that Kingdom Faith Fellowship Church, led by Pastor Robert Charles Randolph, is working with the developer Scott Crawford Inc. on 181 housing units for residents aged 55 and over.

The plan mixes market-rate and more affordable homes, with about 80 per cent at market rate and 20 per cent designated as workforce housing. One-bedroom units would be about 680 square feet, two-bedroom units about 1,000 square feet and three-bedroom units about 1,350 square feet. Residents would share a fitness room, a community room, a walking trail and a butterfly garden. The project was going through the city’s rezoning process.

Marques Morgan, vice-president of acquisitions and development at Scott Crawford Inc., said the idea was rooted in the church’s history. “This has always been a part of the vision for the church since its inception in 2007,” he said. Residents, he said, “can age in place and also have the option of hearing the Gospel and worshipping the Lord within walking distance,” with each unit having its own private entry.

Que El-Amin, the company’s president, said more churches could follow. “We are currently working with another church on a similar project, but hope to work with more churches in the future,” he said.

The project reflects a shift among congregations with land: instead of relying on offerings alone, churches are using their property to create long-term housing that also keeps members close. A mix of market-rate and workforce units can help a project pay for itself, though it provides fewer deeply affordable homes than fully subsidised schemes.

Many Jamaican families, at home and abroad, worry about where ageing parents will live. For churches in Jamaica with spare acreage, and for diaspora congregations in North America, the Milwaukee plan offers a model worth weighing: senior homes beside the sanctuary, planned with an experienced developer, so elders can remain part of church life as they age.
