KINGSTON, Jamaica — The United States (US) dollar on Monday, June 22, ended trading at $158.31, down 27 cents, according to the Bank of Jamaica’s daily foreign exchange trading summary.
The Canadian dollar closed at $111.96, down from $112.79, and the British pound ended marginally lower at $209.21 from $209.31.
The Jamaican dollar strengthened against all three major currencies, with its most notable gain coming against the Canadian dollar.

What it means for property buyers and the diaspora
For sellers who price homes or villas in US dollars to attract overseas buyers, a firmer Jamaican dollar slightly reduces the local-currency value of those asking prices. Canadian-based Jamaicans, meanwhile, would have received fewer Jamaican dollars for money sent to cover legal fees or a sales agreement deposit.
