The Jamaica of 2026 is fundamentally different from the Jamaica many investors remember, Delano Seiveright, Jamaicas minister of state in the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce, told the 30th Annual International African American Hotel Ownership and Investment Summit and Trade Show in Miami, according to the Gleaner, speaking alongside Dr Andy Ingraham, founder of the National Association of Black Hotel Owners, Operators and Developers.
Seiveright told the gathering that existing investors in Jamaica continue reinvesting, and that the worlds largest hotel companies continue expanding on the island, evidence, he argued, that international capital markets increasingly recognise something about the countrys trajectory that outdated perceptions have not caught up with.
The pitch is explicitly about correcting a stale mental model. Investors weighing a new Caribbean hospitality bet often carry assumptions formed years or decades earlier, about crime, infrastructure, ease of doing business, that may no longer match current conditions. Seiveright’s argument was less about any single new incentive and more about persuading a room of experienced hotel investors to actually re-underwrite Jamaica with current data rather than older priors.
Whether that message lands depends less on any one speech than on whether the pipeline of hotel investment already under way in Jamaica, real projects, real dollars, real delays and real completions, continues generating the kind of track record that eventually does update outside perceptions on its own, speech or no speech.
