    Edgewater Pavilion

A restrained single-storey pavilion is set lightly on a timber platform that extends directly into the Caribbean shoreline, dissolving the boundary between interior and sea. The structure employs a flat cantilevered roof with deep overhangs, floor-to-ceiling glazing, and a compact steel frame wrapped in vertical cladding to create a refined, weather-resistant envelope. The deck functions as both circulation and threshold, mediating sand, water, and architecture in one continuous plane. Internally, the layout is organised as an open-plan volume oriented toward uninterrupted ocean views, prioritising transparency and controlled exposure to coastal elements. This is a conceptual exploration of minimal coastal living within a tropical context.

    Year: 2026
    Lead Designer: Jamaica Homes
    Type: Coastal Pavilion
Main Architectural Elements: Flat cantilever roof · Full-height glazing · Steel frame structure · Timber deck platform · Vertical cladding envelope

Crucial Location Factors: Positioned along a calm shoreline with direct water adjacency, requiring careful consideration of salt corrosion, wind uplift, and tidal movement. Orientation maximises eastern light while roof overhangs mitigate solar gain and glare.
    Category: Concept
    Best Use (Occupancy Classification): Homes
    Location: Montego Bay, Jamaica

Energy Efficiency: Passive cross-ventilation · Deep roof shading · High-performance glazing · Elevated deck for airflow beneath structure
Design fitting function (build-to-suit): Private coastal retreat or short-stay villa

A study in restraint where structure, sea, and horizon align with deliberate precision.
